We've worked hard over the years to make our program better and better. We are constantly coming up with ideas to implement new safety measures including our helmet rotation program, concussion testing and certification as well as Heads-Up Certification. Safety comes above all else. We appreciate all the help and input we get from our parents and coaches. You all are the heartbeat of our league.

The park has worked on upgrading the fields in the Jim Barnett Park (Preston Fields) to create 2 turf game fields and they've worked on helping us upgrade our Practice fields. We rely on the money we receive from our registrations and donations from local businesses to make all this happen. We have so many people on board that donate time and/or funds to help us continue to thrive.

Message from the board

THE WINCHESTER-FREDERICK COUNTY YOUTH FOOTBALL BOARD OF DIRECTORS WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME YOU TO THE 2024 FALL FOOTBALL SEASON. OUR PROGRAM HAS BEEN GOING STRONG FOR OVER 60 YEARS. THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE LEAGUE HAS ALWAYS REMAINED THE SAME:“TEACH THE BASIC FUNDAMENTALS OF FOOTBALL, TEAM SPIRIT, AND GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP.”

THE WINCHESTER FREDERICK YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE (WFYFL) BOARD OF DIRECTORS IS WAS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE A NEW OPPORTUNITY TO ENHANCE OUR SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY. WFYFL HAS EXPANDED ITS FOOTBALL PROGRAM TO INCLUDE A DEVELOPMENTAL LEAGUE FOR SIX AND SEVEN YEAR OLDS AND WE'VE EXPANDED OUR CHEERLEADING PROGRAM TO INCLUDE A PEE WEE LEAGUE FOR FIVE, SIX AND SEVEN YEAR OLDS. THE BOARD FELT THAT THERE IS AMPLE INTEREST FROM THE COMMUNITY TO SUPPORT THESE PROGRAMS AND THAT EXPANDING IN THIS MANNER ALLOWS THE LEAGUE TO FOCUS ON ITS GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF, “TEACHING THE BASIC FUNDAMENTALS OF FOOTBALL, CHEERLEADING AND GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP.”

WE ENCOURAGE EVERYONE IN THE COMMUNITY TO HELP SPREAD THE WORD OF OUR EXPANSION AND SHARE IN OUR BOARD’S EXCITEMENT FOR THE FUTURE OF FOOTBALL, CHEERLEADING AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE BOYS AND GIRLS THAT WILL SHAPE OUR COMMUNITY’S FUTURE.OUR PROGRAM IS TOTALLY VOLUNTEER WITH OUR COACHES DEVOTING THEIR TIME AND EFFORTS TO TEACHING THE PROPER FUNDAMENTALS OF FOOTBALL, AS WELL AS GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP. IF IT WERE NOT FOR THESE INDIVIDUALS, OUR PROGRAM COULD NOT SURVIVE.

WE ARE SOLELY FUNDED BY LOCAL BUSINESSES, CIVIC CLUBS, AND BOTH THE WINCHESTER AND FREDERICK COUNTY PARKS DEPARTMENTS. THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS OVER THE MANY YEARS HAVE ENABLED US TO PROVIDE THE BEST EQUIPMENT POSSIBLE FOR THE LEAGUE. THIS YEAR WE'RE HOPING TO PURCHASE A NEW SCOREBOARD AND WORK ON MAKING OUR PLAYING FIELDS BETTER.

FINALLY, WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE PARENTS FOR THEIR SUPPORT. THE BOARD RECOGNIZES THE COMMITMENT AND TIME THAT EACH FAMILY GIVES IN WHICH TO MAKE OUR PROGRAM A SUCCESS.WE WISH ALL THE KIDS "GOOD LUCK" FOR THE 2024 SPRING SEASON.

SINCERELY,
WFYFL BOARD OF DIRECTORS
